Ecuadorian Government Will Control the Press

The government proposal to control the media won with a difference of 176,492 votes of the referendum on May 7. The plan to create a council to regulate the contents of the media won with a 3,333,480 votes which is equal to %44,6 for the “Yes,” the “No” had 3,156,988 which reaches a total of 42,2%
The socialist president, Rafael Correa, proposed a popular consult for a referendum to solve several discrepancies like forbidding banks to invest in different sectors, to eliminate table games, among others.
The vote for the “Yes” won nine of the ten questions, however the answers have a small difference of a 4% of the votes. Unlike the referendums of the year 2007 and 2008 were Correa won with a difference of over 50%.
