41% of energy used by the industry comes from diesel

 The diesel is a major source of energy for the Ecuadorian industry. 41% of the energy consumed by this sector is diesel, followed by electricity (29%) and fuel oil (16%). This is data from the National Energy Balance 2014, published by the Ministry of Strategic Sectors

On Thursday, the government decided to withdraw subsidies on diesel and industrial fuel oil. But the withdrawal of the benefit does not affect all industries equally. The impact will depend on the composition of the sources of energy of the companies, the type of equipment they have and the value chain. Moreover, the withdrawal of the subsidy only applies to companies that consume more than 2000 gallons of diesel a month.
