4PELEGATOS: Correa spends half a million dollars to build a museum dedicated to himself
The official documents of the project also show the laudatory nature of the power and especially Correa´s permanence in the Presidency. All of them mention, as a fundamental part of the project, a space designed for “the gifts received by the Constitutional President of the Republic as a recognition to the Ecuadorian people he represents.” One of them says that at least.
The idea of the Museum of the Presidency of the Republic had floated for some years in the mind of Correa, who has always boasted of having opened the Carondelet Palace to tourists. In fact, in February 2016 the Presidency published a large 43-page project to convert the government palace and some buildings into an immense tourist and museum complex, whose cost was estimated at $ 3,600,000. This means the integration of Carondelet with the surrounding buildings: the Post Office (current vice-presidency), Daily El Comercio and Chimborazo. That would have made that project the largest building block in Quito’s historic center.
