The 1,500 car parking spaces available at San Marino Mall, north of the city ofGuayaquil (Ecuador), are controlled by a new system. At the entrance of the Mall, the guards will give a parking lot ticket to the driver. The ticket shall be returned, at the end of your visit to the Mall, with a stamp showing that you purchased or consumed something in one of its stores.

The system will come into effect in August. Lorena Weisson, marketing head for San Marino Shopping Center, said the system was designed thinking about the mall security and the efficient use of parking for customers. Weisson said that in some cases, people use San Marino facilities as if it only were a parking lot.

But there are cases where people use the shopping facilities for meetings. Because of this, she says there are information centers where they offer help.

Alejandro Carpio, customer consultancy, says that every day people come seeking for the seal of the ticket. Carpio says that he stamps the tickets if people can explain why do they came to the Mall for. He also argues that all the 220 San Marino shops have stamps, so it is the duty of the user to request the service.

The values are local prices established by San Marino: If you have a non sealed document, you must pay $ 5 to leave. If you loss it, $10. And if the vehicle remains in the parking lot, the amount to pay will be $ 25 per night.
