Archbishop of Guayaquil Announced a Vigil to Honor John Paul II

Antonio Arregui, Archbishop of Guayaquil and president of the Ecuadorian Episcopal Conference, announced that this Sunday they will take the occasion of the beatification of Pope John Paul II at the Vatican to celebrate the 26 anniversary of the pontiff’s visit to Ecuador.

Arregui announced a vigil will be held this Saturday April 30th from 20:00 to 24:00 in the Cathedral of Guayaquil and other churches in the city. In addition a Thanksgiving Mass will be held from 10:00 at the Monumental Stadium of Barcelona on the occasion of the beatification.

This Sunday there will be no masses in the morning in Guayaquil city, in order that the pastors and the faithful can attend the Thanksgiving Mass, announced Arregui who also stated that are finalizing the details for the events this weekend. Monumental stadium gates will be open since 08:00 on Sunday.
