30-S: Colonel Tapia was Sentenced to Three Years in Prison
Posted On 30 Jun 2011
The Ecuadorian Second Court of Criminal Appeals has condemned Coronel Rolando Tapia, former head of the legislative escort, to three years in prison by acting against the state security last September 30th (30-S), of 2010.
Tapia received the sentence in the early hours of last Tuesday. On Thursday the sentence was delivered.
The other five policemen Mario Flores, who was found complicit, should be 18 months in prison.
After sentencing, the defense argued that Tapia’s sentence was a political decision and he neither accepts a penalty of more than two years nor the amnesty.
