Judge Mortola was separated from case El Universo

The Law Society of Guayas (Ecuador) denounced in a statement, the separation “without the slightest motivation” of the judge of the Second Criminal Chamber of the Provincial Court of Guayas, Eduardo Guerrero Mórtola, who is part of the staff in charge of the judicial process of case El Universo.

This courtroom has to convene within 10 days a new hearing for case Rafael Correa – Diario El Universo.

“Coincidentally, this separation occurs within days of making a decision regarding case El Universo, in which equality of arms and the basic norms of the process have been circumvented by a lower court judge”, says the statement signed by the guild Vice President, John Vizuete Ronquillo.

Meanwhile, judge Mórtola said he has not been notified of his separation so he will continue to work normally. (AV)
