There have never been a scanner in Court 15°, says Judge Sierra

Continuing with the complaint that El Universo Newspaper has against judge Juan Paredes for malfeasance and misrepresentation; this morning, Oswaldo Sierra, Judge of the Court 15° of Criminal Guarantees, confirmed that in Court 15 ° of Assizes of Guayas there was never existed a scanner, with which Paredes, had supposedly made the statement against Diario El Universo, its officers and Emilio Palacio.

The guilty verdict was “drafted” thirteen hours after the hearing (July 19th, 2011) through the use of a scanner of course. The sentence was passed next day the newspaper condemning a payment of $ 40 million fine and three years in prison managers and former editor of opinion.

Sierra was the first judge who tried the criminal case of Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa against Diario El Universo, its officers and Palacio, however, during the first trial Sierra was suspended for 90 days and was replaced by Judge Juan Paredes, who issued the ruling.
