Northern Syrian States are in Open Revolt

Syrian security forces resumed their fierce shelling of opposition targets in Homs. However they seem to be loosing their grip in the northern region. Regime troops try hard to control all the fronts of the hostile country, the revolt has now entered its twelve month.

U.N. General Assembly prepared a symbolic resolution that condemns the President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad for his brutal crackdown. The bombings in Homs targeted the opposition stronghold neighborhoods of Baba Amr, Inshaat and Khalidiya.

Several communities, villages and small towns across northern Syrian informed that they have not seen the presence of the Syrian governmental authority in months. Surprisingly these communities are in self-rule, and they are providing their own services to other communities. They have also been hosting hundreds of defected Syrian soldiers who are identified as the Free Syrian Army.

The Arab Spring movement that forced a change in the regime of Egypt and Tunisia influenced the insurrection in Syria. The estimated death toll due to the crackdown in Syria passes the 5,000 casualties according to the United Nations, other investigations set the number to 7,000. (AV)
