Happy Birthday Paul McCartney!

Today, the Rock and Roll idol of all time, Sir Paul McCartney, is turning 70.

Born on June 18, 1942 in Liverpool, McCartney began his musical career at age 15 along John Lennon and George Harrison, integrating his first rock band called The Quarrymen. Through the years, the group members changed several times, until mid-August 1960, the band decided to change its name to “The Beatles” and recruiting Pete Best as its first drummer.

Thereafter, the story is what we all know. For a decade (1960 – 1970), The Beatles became one of the most important and representative bands of the history of music, transcending paradigms, borders and generations.

Although the years have diminished the power of his voice, this living legend continues to perform concerts and tours worldwide. Moreover, not even the singer plans to retire from music, and ensures that he would get bored if he quits.

“I like what I do, that’s the big secret, I like what I do a lot. What am I supposed to do? Sit in front of the TV?”, admitted in January while promoting his latest album “Kisses on the bottom.”

The Guinness Book of Records went on to qualify him as the most successful composer of all time, with sixty gold albums and single sales that have exceeded 100 million units.

• McCartney had 3 marriages: Linda Eastman (1969-1998), Heather Mills (2002-2008), and Nancy Shevell (2011-present)
• He is vegetarian and an animal rights advocate.
• Has 4 children and a stepdaughter, Heather (daughter of Linda and her former husband Joseph Melville See Jr.), Mary, Stella, James and Beatrice (his second marriage to Mills)
• In 2007 the British artist presented the album Memory Almost Full, the first record of an ex-Beatle that could be purchased in digital format on the Internet.
• In 2011, he received the award for Person of the Year at the 54th Grammy Awards.
