The former Ecuadorian marcher, Jefferson Perez, is part of the list of 21 athletes worldwide, nominated to integrate the Athletes Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Champion in the 20-kilometer march in Atlanta 1996, Perez considers that the IOC should “help to encourage ethical and moral principles such as perseverance, honesty, determination and unity” and that it “is a great honor for him to be an authorized representative of those principles”.

The selection of the four seats to integrate the Commission of the IOC will take place in the upcoming London Olympics, which will begin on July 27. Results will be announced on August 9, three days before the end of the competition. (MZ)
