On the 3rd day of election campaign, candidates reveal their proposals

The eight candidates for the presidency of Ecuador continue their busy schedule of tours, interviews, speeches and social work to gain the popularity that will lead them to achieve their goal, Carondelet, and on the third day since the campaign officially started, candidates reveal the core points of their proposals, among these, the implementation of development models.

Lucio Gutierrez (PSP) List 3

“The only model of development that works, is the one that reduces poverty levels”

The former president seeking re-election, Lucio Gutierrez, said that Ecuador must apply development models that reduce poverty levels in the country. “In my administration, we will reduce poverty levels up to 4 percent per year, as we did years ago in my government.”

Gutierrez’ model is based primarily on three points. The first, improve progress in agriculture, fishing and tourism; the second, strengthen micro, small and medium enterprises, and the third, investment in health, education and housing.

Alvaro Noboa (PRIAN) List 7

“I Will implement public policies to create jobs and provide stability”

The employer and persevering candidate, Alvaro Noboa, points to agriculture, fishery, entrepreneurship and investment to improve wealth, without forgetting the development of the mining industry and the extermination of the class struggle.

Noboa says that his development model, if elected, will implement measures to give legal certainty to the citizens who want to work independently or build a company. “To them the state will give them all the help they need: agile processes and  clear rules for paying taxes, so they can plan for the future of their businesses or enterprises.”

Noboa also believes in rebuilding international trade and the production development pushed by it.

Nelson Zavala (PRE) List 10

Esmeraldas. Nelson Zavala began his campaign in that city.

“We will offer home loans to 20 years with contributions of up to $ 50”

The PRE candidate and evangelical pastor, Nelson Zavala, believes the country can build a “great” development model, but as long as it involves “improving the morale of the people and true love for our neighbors.”

Zavala poses a Plan for Economic and Social Liberation, whose objectives lie in the transformation of public, social and economic policies. “We propose comprehensive government projects in order to achieve a parallel growth on development and social justice in the country.”

Alberto Acosta (MPD-PK) List 15 -18

“We will develop a sovereign and multinational economy and society”

The representative of the Plurinational Coordinator of the Left movements, Alberto Acosta, aims to develop a sovereign economy and society based on food, finance, energy, culture and technology in order to build a multinational state with a view to increase productive development.

Acosta said his plan will work by implementing  a decent and participatory social policy, in the fields of health socialization and intercultural educational revolution. “We must build a democratic government that will delegate its powers, socialize and decentralize political decision making at all levels. This would ensure the full enjoyment of human rights and rights of nature.”

Guillermo Lasso (CREO) List 21

Guayaquil. Guillermo Lasso greeted people on the streets.

“The changes in production will be achieved with entrepreneurship”

The former banker and CREO’s presidential candidate, Guillermo Lasso, argues that the economic, political and social aspects, are vital to the creation and promotion of a  development model. A plan that must have the human being  as its core.

Lasso ensures that he will guarantee entrepreneurship in Ecuador. “I will do so because entrepreneurs are the ones who create wealth, not the state.”

Mauricio Rodas (SUMA) List 23

Quito. Mauricio Rodas activated a countdown watch to the elections.

“We will promote a responsible framework to generate stability and security”

The development model of SUMA’s presidential candidate, Mauricio Rodas, is based on productivity for small and medium enterprises, and training of household heads in areas of prevention, health and household savings.

Rodas said that his government, if elected, will be responsible when regulating the conditions of stability and certainty in the country.

Norman Wray (Ruptura) List 25

“The development model has to be a tool planned for the people”

Wray, Ruptura’s presidential candidate, said that on his government, the State will intervene actively to generate wealth and equity, redistribute wealth and power, and promote a model of development centered on the human being and nature.

His “centered” model will work through a plan that “considers the economic incentive and a proportional tax policy as important variables for the reality of Ecuador, which is now taken into account in global issues and in our case, in the agricultural field.”

Rafael Correa (Alianza PAIS) List 35

“An economy that is based on solidarity, to accommodate production”

The candidate for re-election and current president, Rafael Correa, has a development model that continues with the economic transformation process supported by structural policies of distribution and redistribution of the means of production, of knowledge, of culture and of wealth.

“We’re going to democratize the social acquis to ensure favorable results in the short term, and contribute to long-term change,” he says.
