Pedro Delgado’s attorney denounces the passports withholding in U.S.

Nathalie Cely and Juan Carlos Carmigniani
Juan Carlos Carmigniani, the lawyer of the former Central Bank president, Pedro Delgado, reported yesterday through his Twitter account that the Consulate of Ecuador in Miami, withholds, illegally, the passports of the family Delgado-Endara, his wife and children, and the one of the former official. The documents are in the power of Ecuador’s ambassador in the United States, Nathalie Cely.
Carmigniani revealed through a telephone call to the newspaper El Universo that the consul of Ecuador, Eduardo Rivadeneira, confirmed the news after Delgado’s family handed their diplomatic passports at the diplomatic dependence in exchange for their ordinary passports. According to Carmigniani the Foreign Ministry ordered the retention of such documents.
Given these statements, the ambassador replied: “There is no order to withhold passports of anyone. When they deliver it as they should be with all his diplomatic credentials like the badges and licenses (the consulate must sign it’s reception) the other documents will be given.”
For Delgado’s lawyer, this is a violation of human rights and to the family of the former official as undocumented. After an exchange of tweets between Carmigniani and Cely, the ambassador gave his word that “when they do things wit the properly legality, they will have it back.” Additionally, the ambassador said that if you have any doubts to contact Efrain Baus in the Embassy.
