In the cooperative Shihlon of Monte Sinaí, a Mormon church has been improvised as shelter to lodge more than 120 people (17 families), who are refugees after losing their homes as a result of the heavy rains that Guayaquil have suffered.

However, residents complained to the authorities because, since last Saturday, no humanitarian aid has arrived.

“Children need to eat here, anyway, we are helping them but we cannot do more,” said one of the members of the Church, who doesn’t know what to cook because of the lack of food.

At 18:30 yesterday, three army trucks moved eleven of the 17 families affected by the severe storm and set up a temporary shelter at the Huancavilca Military Fort, located at km 10.5 of the Daule road.
