Abidal returns to play after transplant
Although it was a friendly match with training purposes, Eric Abidal, who was had a Liverpool tansplant in April of last year, returned to play last Tuesday in a match with the FC Barcelona team B against Istres, of the Ligue 2 of France.

The club announced that Abidal had been detected with a tumor in the liver. After the operation, the French winger returned to play.
A piece of liver, donated by his cousin Gerard was transplanted to Abidal. After the operation, the doctors announced that he would have to take medication for life and that would be difficult to play at the professional level. The calvary of the player began in March 2011.
The epic moment of the season he lived it on May 28th of 2011 when he accomplished, at Wembley, the Champions League conquered by Barcelona against Manchester United (3-1). Carles Puyol, Captain that day, gave him the bracelet to Abidal who was commissioned to raise the trophy. A month later, the Barça reported that the player was undergoing a liver transplant.
The operation took place on April 10, 2012 and he was discharged from hospital at the end of the month. Doctors announced in December that Abidal could return to play soccer and began to train with the rest of the team, although technicians haven’t mark a specific time for him to play at a professional level.
