Rafa Nadal wons the Indian Wells

Rafael Nadal was proclaimed champion of the Indian Wells Masters 1000, this Sunday. It’s his victory number 600 in the professional circuit, its title number 53, his Masters 1,000 number 22 and a victory that allows him to retrieve the fourth place in the ATP ranking.

Rafa Nadal won the Indian Wells for the third time, after beating Argentine Juan Martín del Potro by a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-4  after two hours and 29 minutes of match which closed the tournament at the central court Tennis Garden. A finale  with a full venue despite the high temperatures of the Californian desert.

With his 600 victory as a professional, Nadal gets his title number 52 of his career and becomes the player with more Masters 1,000 in history with a total of 22, beating Roger Federer (21), Andre Agassi (17), Novak Djokovic (13) and Pete Sampras (11). A triumph which allows him to recover the number four ranking and helps him to sign the best start of his career (17-1). An incredible comeback specially after  seven months away from the courts due to an injury. Rafa announced his absence from the Miami tournament because his knee needs rest and will be back for Monte Carlo.
