Correa says Historic Park is a “diamond in the rough”

Ecuadorian President, Rafael Correa, after his visit to Samborondon Historical Park, said his government will try to promote the park, which, he believes, is being underutilized. Correa hopes to make it a “center of attraction for tourists”.

“This is a diamond in the rough, we have to make the most of it,” said the President once inspecting the different areas of the park for over an hour.

Correa visited the park, administered by the Public Enterprise for National Parks and Public Spaces, for the first time as part of his agenda in Guayaquil. Governor Viviana Bonilla, Minister of Culture, Erika Silva, and Social Development Coordinator, Richard Espinosa accompanied the president on this visit.

He regretted, finally, that 40% of the areas are underutilized and some old buildings are unfinished.
