Prosecutor Chiriboga is accused of “malfeasance” by Pedro Delgado

Galo Chiriboga accused

Pedro Delgado Campana, former president of the Central Bank of Ecuador and cousin of the Ecuadorian president, Rafael Correa, filed two criminal complaints “for malfeasance” against the attorney general, Galo Chiriboga, another one for the deputy prosecutor Cecilia Armas.

The announcement of these claims was carried out by Juan Carlos Carmigniani, Delgado’s defense attorney. Such complaints would prevent prosecutors to continue with the case.

The first complaint was against Chiriboga, for revealing and making it public through press conferences and interviews, details, actions and steps taken in the stage of preliminary investigation of the case. According to Article 215 of the Criminal Procedure Code, since they are of a reserved nature, explained Carmigniani.

The second complaint against Chiriboga and Armas, was for handling an inquiry for the alleged crime of ideological falsification of public documents, although it would need to have a civil judgment declaring a false public instrument of the defendant.
