Demonstrations in Chile ended in chaos

During yesterday’s demonstrations for the International Labor Day, there were several claims, whether against the austerity policies or working conditions. Pope Francisco called on politicians to create more jobs respecting “the rules of social justice“. In the U.S., thousands of undocumented immigrants called for an immigration reform.

In Greece and Spain, the countries most affected by unemployment and the economic crisis, with an impact on more than 27% to the active population, thousands of people demonstrated after being summoned by the unions.

In Lisbon, thousands marched against austerity policies imposed two years ago by the “troika” (European Union, International Monetary Fund and the European Central Bank).

United States was no exception to the protests, as thousands of protesters demanded a reform of immigration laws at a time when the Congress is debating a bill that would allow nearly 11 million people located in the country without authorization and to stop hiding.

Demonstrations occurred in some states from Tampa, Florida to Bozeman, Montana. Labor Day also mobilized hundreds of thousands of people in Latin American countries. In Chile several clashes between protesters and police occurred.
