Emelec defeated Manta and regained the first place

Emelec Sporting Club takes the lead

With a final score of 2-1, with goals from Mena and De Jesus in the stadium Jocay of Manta, the millionaire team (Emelec) regained the top spot of the positions and the first chance to win the first stage of Ecuadorian soccer tournament.

Emelec was the leader of the championship until last week, when they loss at their home stadium against Liga de Quito and the triumph of Deportivo Quito over El Nacional. This lowered the team to the second place team behind the Theatre Square, with the same points (35), but better goal difference regarding the capital team.

That was the fourth straight loss of Emelec after being defeated by Independiente and Barcelona, at the Capwell, and against Quito, in the Atahualpa stadium, which meant losing the title of undefeated, leadership and their style of play that was sweeping with the tournament.

Three dates to complete the first stage, Emelec has the highest win option since it excels the Quito team with 3 points, second in the aspirations and Liga de Quito and Independiente. Barcelona and university Catholic, very far in points, still they have a mathematical chance, but all except the blue team, depend on other results.

This weekend they face Deportivo Quito and Independiente and Catolica Quevedo in the Atahualpa stadium. Liga de Quieto receives El Nacional in Casa Blanca. El Cuenca will play as local against Emelec; Manta will play against Macara, and Barcelona closes the date in the Monumental stadium against Liga de Loja.
