Betty Tola, Secretary of Policy Management, said the National Assembly should first discuss the veto to the Mining Law to continue with the urgent economic project to compensate export sectors, following the unilateral withdrawal from Ecuador to the seventh renewal of the Andean Trade Act and Drug Eradication Act (ATPDEA), which expires on July 31.

Roses are one of the products that Ecuador exported to the U.S.

“The Legislature can only receive one project at a time, but it is expected that this week it can be processed,” said Tola. The Assembly has until July 24 to decide.

According to the official, the document, of which there is already a first draft, is in the hands of the Legal Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic.

Meanwhile, Alexis Mera, head of the Legal Secretariat, said that the government proposal is under consideration and cannot give advances on anything. “I’m reviewing it,” said Mera.
