Contradictory News about Nelson Mandela’s health
International Press agency APF, stated, this morning that the family of former President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, was facing the painful possibility of disconnecting the machine that keeps the world leader alive, who is in “permanent vegetative state”.
However, this afternoon, according to an article in The Wall Street Journal, the spokesman of the President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, denied the assertion about the vegetative state and recognized that Mandela is still alive only by respiratory assistance.
The first report said that a legal brief of last June 26 revealed by AFP this morning, reveals the current situation of Madiba: “He is in a permanent vegetative state and under respiratory assistance to survive. Anticipation of a sooner death is based on real and serious reasons ”
“Mandela’s health condition worsened and doctors advised Mandela’s family to disconnect the machine that keeps him alive artificially,” said the document, which added: “rather than prolong his suffering, the family of Mandela studies that option as a probable one”
For its part, the note of the evening of The Wall Street Journal, denied those claims.
