Chucho Benitez death will affect Qatar

After the death of Ecuadorian soccer player, Christian ‘Chucho’ Benitez, in Qatar, it will have repercussions, said the U.S. newspaper The New York Times (NYT), in an extensive article detailing what happened to the Ecuadorian striker on last Monday.

“It is premature to conclude that the heat had something to do with whatever it is that killed Benitez,” said the article, which highlights the features of Chucho’s game.

The article also recalled that FIFA president Joseph Blatter called for the 2022 World Cup, headquartered in Qatar, be carried out during the winter because of the intense heat that the Arab country has, for being located across the Persian Gulf, where the temperature can reach 41 Celsius degrees.

“Small and robust, but quick and elusive, Benitez could score with his feet or his head,” describes the NYT, with the quote of Lee Carsley, a former teammate of Chucho in Birmingham, who branded Ecuadorian soccer player as an “exceptional player ability, very fast, a kind of free spirit.”
