The Executive Committee examines new trial against Cesar Carrion

The former Director of the Police Hospital, Col. Cesar Carrion, who was declared not guilty of of attempting against the life of President Rafael Correa on September 30, 2010, could be processed again though for other criminal offenses. That possibility is being analysed by the Commission created by the Executive to investigate the police revolt.

The Commissioner Oscar Bonilla revealed, on December 16, that members of the organization believe that Carrion should be judged for a different crime, the cases that were opened by these facts, includes a multiplicity of offenses.

In September 2011, when  the acquittal of Carrion was revealed (in second instance), President Rafael Correa rejected the ruling and said that  he would initiate another trial for alleged insubordination.

According to Bonilla, in the first six months of work of the Executive Committee it was confirmed the hypothesis that there was an attempted of coup d ‘ état, the abduction of the President and an assassination attempt.

With these results, he added, in the new six months of work of the Commission, which started in mid-December, they will identify the political and economic actors who participated in the coup attempt.
