Contributions to the IESS will rise

The Executive Council of the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IESS) decided that starting this month, members’ contributions will rise; action that had not changed since 13 years ago.

According to resolution 466, approved last December, it is estimated that the members’ contribution on their salary rises from 9.35% to 9.45%. The total contribution that receives the IESS by each affiliate will pass from  20.5 to 20.6%.

Every employer shall make this discount from this month (including employers of domestic workers.

The Board of Directors of IESS decided to comply with the disabilities law, which provides benefits for people with disabilities. One of them is the special pension for the elderly which should be covered by the Social Security, allowing them access to a retirement, without age limit, when fulfilling the 300 contributions (25 years).

The contributions made this month by members will result in an increase in revenues of $ 1.9 million a year.
