Fidel Castro met with Presidents Correa, Ortega and Morales

Screen Shot 2014-01-30 at 11.25.13The former President of Cuba, Fidel Castro, met yesterday with the Presidents of Ecuador, Bolivia and Nicaragua to discuss the results of the Latin American and Caribbean Summit (Celac for its Spanish acronym), which concluded on Wednesday in Havana.

According to the local press, Castro, 87 and removed from power since 2006, said a “broad exchange” with Rafael Correa, Evo Morales and Daniel Ortega, ”about the issues” of the Summit.

Part of this conversation was the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, his battle against cancer, and his “extraordinary efforts for the creation of Celac”.

The Presidents thanked Castro for the “hospitality received, and the organization, the fruitful results of the various debates.”
