67 applicants seek to join the CNE
The process for the partial renewal of the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym) advances and on October 6 starts the challengesphase. Where until Wednesday October 16, citizens have time to object to any of the 67 participants who aspire to be part of the entity.
The current members of the CNE were positioned on November 29, 2011 for a period of six years, but the Constitution mandates that these are partially renewed every three years. As this is the first time, the Council of Citizen Participation (Cpccs for its Spanish acronym) in charge of this task, decided to do draw lots to determine who will be the two officials that must leave office.
Participants include those who have held positions in the Electoral Tribunal. There are 10 that have been part of the Council and the Litigious Electoral Tribunal (TCE).
