Jalhk rejects complaints about lack of judicial independence

The President of the Judicial Council, Gustavo Jalkh, criticized comments that have emerged about the alleged lack of judicial independence in the country.
Jalkh said that these would be “political allegations” and that if there is evidence on a bad prosecution, involving lack of independence of a judge, these must be presented and substantiated through the mechanisms established by the State and the Ecuadorian Constitution.
The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) will analyze the situation of the judiciary in Ecuador on Monday during its 153th session.
