L.A.C., a 17 year old teen, who was arrested last May 1 during the protest marches of the International Labour Day against the Labor Justice Act, and who allegedly made obscene gestures to President Rafael Correa, apologized publicly in an interview broadcast by Ecuavisa, claiming that the episode was a misunderstanding.

“He takes me by the chest and says, bratty boy learn to respect, I am your president,” L.A. said regarding the reaction of President Correa after he showed signs with his thumbs down at the time the presidential backup passed through the Flores street. The same day, the young man was detained by the presidential security and taken to the Flagrancy Unit of the Prosecutor´s office where he underwent a hearing at which a sentence of 20 hours of community work was resolved from 5 to 18 May.

“I consider it as a misunderstanding, not a lack of respect, but if the President considers so, my apologies,” the young man concluded.
