The IESS assessed 407 health providers

One of the external health care providers of the Social Security tried to charge for procedures that were never performed.

The invoice issued by the health house featured eight angiograms. There are diagnostic imaging tests to study the circulatory system. Each may have an average cost of USD 700.

But after an audit process it was discovered that the tests were not made, according to the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IESS).

Now, the institution prepares technical reports in order to file a complaint for the alleged alteration of public documents and fraudulent use of them. Then, it is expected that this and other cases are taken to the prosecution for further investigations.
