The Manta-Manaus route under discussion again

Minister of Foreign Trade Diego Aulestia opened the International Business Round Ecuador-Brazil, in the city of Manaus.

Ecuadorian businessmen have high expectations about this meeting, since for decades they have sought a commercial rapprochement with Brazil. Ecuador has difficulty selling products to that country such as shrimp and bananas. On the last visit of Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff to Ecuador, authorities talked about working on a trade agreement.

In the most recent meeting it was said that developing alternative routes to the Panama Canal is one of the aims, that´s why the construction of the Manta-Manaos route is encouraged.
