Ricardo Patiño defends new taxes to rebuild areas affected by the earthquake

Defense Minister Ricardo Patino thanked Friday the solidarity and cooperation of society for earthquake victims last April 16; but claimed responsibility for the state as an organized society and defended the VAT increase to 14%, as one of the measures to rebuild the affected areas of the country

“We want to reiterate the appreciation for the great solidarity of society, who came spontaneously organized way, anyway, from all sides, both nationally and internationally, we have to thank them deeply, but we can not depend on that,” Patino told the news Ecuavisa.

People who make donations and deliver them to help in the disaster also are entitled to deduct the resources put; but “it is important to make it clear: that you correponde the state,” he said (I).
