Guillermo Lasso proposes employment and respect for the Armed Forces

Posted On 08 Mar 2017
Guillermo Lasso, presidential hopeful for the Creo-SUMA alliance, has publicly presented at least 17 offers during his campaign. The most promoted is the creation of 1 million jobs, in four years of government. But the list also includes strengthening the security and social system, and free admission to the university for young people.
The repeal of the Communication Law, the promise of not raising the price of domestic gas and eliminate 14 taxes.
He has also insisted on the need to promote a consensual modernization plan for the military institution, the respect for the Armed Forces and its hierarchical order.

Yesterday, March 7, in Quito, the opposition candidate again referred to the situation of the militaries. He rejected the dismissal of four senior officers from the Armed Forces, including army commander-in-chief Luis Castro, who made controversial statements about the custody of the votes in the February 19 during the electoral process. “We want to raise our voice to address the officers and the troop and to tell them that you have obligations with the Ecuadorian people and not with a political party. The transparency in the process of April 2 depends on you,” he said. The candidate also sent a letter to the Organization of American States (OAS) to request the monitoring of international observers in the second round to ensure transparency.
