Chiriboga denied that he was going to travel despite his name appears on the records of an airline

Ecuador´s former Attorney General Galo Chiriboga denied in statements to the press the allegations of him leaving the country, despite the fact that his name appears on the records of an airline.

“What I have gone through today not only affects my image, it affects the Attorney General’s Office. What will the country say? That a former Attorney General is allegedly running away, for what reason? Why do I have to flee?” Said Chiriboga after being under custody for about seven hours.

The prosecution has not officially confirmed for what particular case he was “withheld” but hours before the current attorney general, Carlos Baca Mancheno, said that he was investigated after statements of former Minister Pareja Yanuzzelli.

The former minister, who was transferred from the prison to the prosecution to testify, would have said that in the Petroecuador corruption case, Chiriboga anticipated that compromising information had arrived from Panama on September 26, 2016. (I)
