Ecuadornews:

President Lenin Moreno reiterated that his government would not impose a tax package to the Ecuadorians, and assured that “the economic program is outlined to overcome the financial difficulties of this year and to start 2018 strongly.” During his weekly address, Moreno said that “those who assure that we renounced to our revolutionary program or that a ‘tax package’ is coming are wrong.” Although the president confessed that “we live a complicated situation, with real obligations,” he promised that the country would not “irresponsibly” incur more debt.
Moreno admitted that he is analyzing to call a referendum so that the people pronounce “on the changes that must be introduced to guarantee a full democracy, without autocracy and with a transparent governance, which guarantees the control of the state apparatus.” (I)
