President Lenin Moreno: I propose 7 times Yes to citizen demands

The Head of State received the support of the municipal authority for his proposal for consultation to be held in February 2018. National authorities and the capital celebrated the 483 years of founding of the capital.
Brief and concise was the speech of the President of the Republic, Lenin Moreno, during the solemn session for the 483 years of the founding of Quito.
The Head of State thanked the mayor of the city, Mauricio Rodas, for his support of the popular consultation. “I want to thank the Mayor of Quito for supporting the popular consultation (…) I propose 7 times Yes to citizen demands”.
In that sense, the President said that the popular consultation leads to turning the country into a place where everyone sees each other as friends and good neighbors. He then highlighted the work of the Manuela Espejo mission. As he said, this has gone back to tour Quito and the country. He also announced for the capital the inauguration of works for 2018.
He recalled that this year the allocations of the central State for the Municipality were $ 1,761 million, but that for 2018 they have been budgeted at $ 4,631 million.
For this reason, he guaranteed government support for projects such as the metro, both with the delivery of resources offered ($ 750 million) and with the granting of guarantees for lines of credit that are necessary for its completion.
He even assured that he was excited because as President he was going to inaugurate the work, scheduled for 2019.
In this line announced for the next year the opening of 2 schools of the millennium, in addition to the repowering of 5 other establishments, including the schools Mejía, Montúfar and Manuela Cañizares. At the end of his speech he urged the attendees and the general public to continue trusting the Government.
The act took place in the National Theater Sucre, in the Historical Center of the capital. In addition to the President and the Mayor, the President of the Assembly, José Serrano; the head of the National Electoral Council, Nubia Villacís, between justice authorities and ministers
The Metropolitan Transit Agency carried out a special operation around the Plaza del Teatro to facilitate the arrival of the guests to the solemn session and prevent the event from affecting traffic in the city. The solemn session lasted 90 minutes it was held yesterday for the 483 years of foundation of the capital. The National Police, the Firemen and the Red Cross intervened in the security operation.
The speech had two parts: the work executed by the Municipality and the support for dialogue and popular consultation and referendum, to be held in February 2018. In that sense, the mayor of Quito, Mauricio Rodas, for about half an hour of intervention paid tribute to the capital on its founding anniversary.
He recalled that when he started his administration he promoted dialogue with all sectors to overcome the problems of the city and stressed that the Government has also taken this initiative. “The hands and bricks that build the country are not left or right, they should only be sheltered by the patriotic colors. Count on me, Mr. President, this city lives democracy, so do not hesitate to consult the country as many times as necessary on the direction we should take “.
He also argued that no ‘petty’ political calculation should remove Ecuadorians’ right to decide, since democracy and prosperity are built together on the truth. He recalled that by 2018 the institutional framework that will be validated at the polls will be consolidated.
“The challenge is to overcome the difficult moments of the economy, it is time for productivity and entrepreneurship; Count on me, with an ally, in the pursuit of prosperity. Those political conflicts do not distract him from the transcendent. “In public works highlighted the Metro, whose operation is scheduled from the second half of 2019, and trains of this system will begin to arrive in August 2018.
As part of the solemn session, the capital city gave the annual awards to people and institutions that stood out in the social, arts and sciences, mainly. In total there were 16 medals delivered by the mayor of Quito, Mauricio Rodas, together with the Head of State and the councilors.
In this way he received the Grand Collar Rumiñahui award, the former Secretary General of the UN, Ban Ki Moon (the ambassador of South Korea received the distinction in his name). In addition, the preseas San Francisco de Quito, the priest José Carollo (post mortem); Sebastián de Benalcázar, former Foreign Minister José Ayala Lasso; Great Carondelet Necklace, Manuel Ramos Guerra.
Other distinctions went to the National Police and the Civic Anticorruption Commission (Julio César Trujillo received the award on behalf of the institution), in addition to the citizens Edwin Ramírez, Fernando Sempértegui, Carlos Granja, Diego Falconí Trávez, Víctor Quiyupangui, Verónica Sevilla, Wilson Haro, César Larrea Velásquez, among others.
