Members of Alianza País note ‘vandalism’ at the headquarters of the av. of The Shyris, in Quito

The three floors of the Alianza País building have graffiti on the walls, floors and ceilings. Administrative staff of the movement entered the morning of this Thursday, January 18, 2018, to verify the damage to the infrastructure.

On the walls there are slogans in favor of former President Rafael Correa and against President Lenin Moreno and the referendum. On the first floor there is also damage on one of the televisions belonging to the movement. The floors were also spray painted with the word no. The Vice President of the Republic, María Alejandra Vicuña, described these events as “vandalism” and requested an investigation.

According to the officials guarding the headquarters, there were about 40 people who entered on Tuesday, after knowing that the Contentious Electoral Tribunal (TCE) did not recognize the leadership of Gabriela Rivadeneira. That was read in a ruling issued by the entity on the participation of Alianza País for the yes in the consultation.

In social networks there is also a video that shows a group of people writing on the walls. From the Avenue of the Shyris graffiti is observed with slogans by not on the facade. There is also a white spot on the main poster of the political organization. Despite the damage recorded, it was observed that computers, desks and furniture were found in the different offices.

In the kitchen the rates at which coffee was served by the people who occupied the building before January 16 were still dirty. In one of the toilets that was accessed, no major damage was observed. This Friday is expected to come staff of the Prosecutor to verify the damage. (I)
