Sercob presented 35 works to private builders

The Works Contracting Service (Sercob) socialized 35 construction and repowering projects with representatives of the construction sector. The event took place yesterday in the Chamber of Construction of Guayaquil. 

Eight of the works belong to the health sector and 27 to education. The total amount reaches $ 300 million. The builders were familiar with the management model in the processes of contracting and execution of works, which establishes public-private partnerships.

The projects are still under study and the hiring will be done through public tender. There is no date for them yet. Among the works is the construction of Pedernales hospitals ($ 20,758,612), Quinindé ($ 37,440,000), and the repowering of Manta ($ 23,587,200) in addition to the works in educational units in Guayas, Pichincha, Los Rios, Bolivar, Santo Domingo and Manabí. The director of the Sercob, Jorge Wated, said that “we want the best professionals to participate in the works of the State.”

In the Annual Investment Plan of the Secob there is an approximate budget of $ 741 million for 150 works, including those that are being built and new ones. Within the plan there are many unfinished projects and works that although they are finished are not yet completely liquidated.

Enrique Pita, president of the Chamber of Construction of Guayaquil, said that the management of Sercob, in previous years, has not been satisfactory for those in the sector, but the transparency of these projects is an opportunity to know what is what exists and ratify the decision of the builders to help the development of the country.

At the end of the meeting Pita considered productive the fact that the professionals of the construction companies were considered who in turn made their complaints known.

Wated said that in these works previous errors will be corrected, as in the case of Socio Vivienda, where buildings and houses were built without comprehensive studies for the construction of water systems and streets. (I)
