Previous investigation against prefect Mariano Zambrano for alleged illicit enrichment

The Prosecutor’s Office of Manabí proceeded to initiate a preliminary investigation against the prefect of Manabí, Mariano Zambrano, for the alleged crime of illicit enrichment, this after the formal knowledge of the conclusive report issued on March 29 by the Council of Citizen Participation and Social Control ( CPCCS).
The fact was confirmed by the prosecutor of Manabí, Enrique García Arteaga, who indicated that since it is a preliminary inquiry, no more details can be given of the beginning of this investigation.
Garcia only indicated that on the afternoon of Monday, it was expected that Zambrano will be notified about the start of this investigation, and that it will proceed to give way to all the procedures provided by law. (I)
