Seguros ‘La Unión’ must recognize the Comptroller’s Office more than $ 13 million

On Wednesday, November 4, 2020, the Superintendent of Companies, Securities and Insurance denied the extraordinary appeal for review filed by Seguros La Unión, against the administrative claim made by the State Comptroller General’s Office to execute the insurance policies that it maintains with that company , after the fire that the main building of the control body suffered in October last year.

In his resolution, the superintendent indicates that the Comptroller’s Office fulfilled its obligation to prove the occurrence of the accident and quantify the value of the compensation, which amounts to $ 13,017,568.84, as indicated in the Commercial Code.

In contrast, it states that ‘La Unión’ did not show errors in the contested resolution – issued on October 5, 2020-, with which the appeal was dismissed and ordered that the value of the policies be paid to the Comptroller’s Office, plus the interest generated. (I)
