The elected vice president of Ecuador, Verónica Abad, arrived at the Vice Presidency of the Republic at noon this Monday, October 23, 2023, to meet with the second president, Alfredo Borrero.
Abad was received by the Tarqui grenadiers. Upon her entry, she briefly greeted the media who were there and headed to meet Borrero.

Cristhina Rosero, general secretary of the Vice Presidency, indicated that to comply with the decrees and functions delegated by the President of the Republic, the institution currently manages an annual budget of more than USD 3 million; of which 87.6% corresponds to payroll payment.
The Minister of Government, Henry Cucalón, who was also present at the meeting, pointed out that it is important that the new authorities “have sufficient elements to make decisions from the first moment.”
The official mentioned that the Executive will provide all necessary support to facilitate the transition for the benefit of Ecuador’s democracy.
“To Verónica Abad, from Cuenca like me, I wish her the greatest success in her duties. May her management contribute to the development of Ecuador,” said Borrero Vega in statements to the media.
For her part, the elected Second President, Verónica Abad, expressed her gratitude to the Ecuadorian people for trusting, she said, in the government proposal of the elected president, Daniel Noboa.
“We have a multidisciplinary team, outstanding women and a legal team to make a correct transition. They will have a vice president in the territory to build the bridges that Ecuador requires,” she stated.
After the protocol greeting, Abad promised that the new government will bring employment, inclusion and prosperity.

The two politicians from Cuenca took a brief tour of the facilities of the Vice Presidency of the Republic, prior to the meeting that is part of the process of change of Government.
They then gave a statement to the media. Borrero pointed out that he delivered a “short report” to the vice president-elect, to define the work teams for the transition.
“From now on, you will have a vice president very present in the territory,” said Abad, who explained that he is forming a multidisciplinary team for the government transition.
The elected president, Daniel Noboa, and the outgoing president, Guillermo Lasso, already held a similar meeting on October 17 in Carondelet, in the center of Quito.
They met to begin the government transition.
The meeting was the initiative of President Lasso. After 8:00 p.m., on Sunday, October 15, as soon as the results were confirmed, the president wrote on his X account: “It will be a pleasure to welcome you on Tuesday at the Carondelet Palace. We must now begin the transition process so that learn more about the economic, social and security situation in Ecuador.”
Noboa immediately accepted the appointment.
