A copy of the telegram on the Argentinan Surrender to the Falklands was auctioned
A copy of the telegram in which the United Kingdom certifies the Argentinian surrender was auctioned by the London auction house Bonhams after the 30th anniversary of the start of the Falklands War.
The document was sold in 7,250 pounds ($11,594) for a U.S. private buyer, whose identity was not disclosed.
This telegram has “historical significance” to illustrate a war that left 255 dead and 650 on the British side of Argentina, said the curator of the hall Bonhams Lionel Willis.
“Preparations are made to bring men to their return to Argentina, to collect their weapons and equipment as well as to mark and secure their ammunition”, reads the old telegram.
The telegram was included in an auction dedicated to marine objects which also sold the painting “Evening on the Estuary” made by Dutchman Abraham Hulk (1813-1897) for 9,375 pounds ($ 14,993).
