According to Regional Coalition, 5,000 girls are sexually abused in Ecuador
Rocío Rosero, President in Ecuador of the Regional coalition against trafficking of women in Latin America and the Caribbean, indicates that according to the figures that handles this institution, about two million children are sexually exploited in Latin America.
In Ecuador, about 5,000 children and adolescents are exploited sexually, said Rosero during the launch of the campaign “Tu plata Mal-Trata” (your money, mis-treat) , that was carried out in Quito, under an initiative along with the Group citizen action for democracy and development, the Prefecture of the province of Pichincha and the youth group “Pink Helmets”, who struggle to combat machismo.
During the presentation of the campaign she talked about the report that issued the UN in 2010 on drugs and crime. According to this research, 79% of the victims in this country are destined for sexual exploitation.
“Your money Mis-Treat” is part of a process followed in ten Nations and promoted by the Regional coalition against the trafficking of women, which works to ensure that this problem will become a public policy and it is designed to raise awareness about a crime such as the commercial sexual exploitation of women, and minors of both sexes.
