ADES Foundation – Education is the Most Powerful Tool
The Social Development Advisors Foundation (ADES for its Spanish acronym), a nonprofit NGO, was born 18 years ago as an initiative that was expected to strengthen the philanthropic and charitable groups that work with the social sector in the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador.
ADES promotes development processes through activities that have, as an axis, training and education as basic tools for overcoming factors that affect poverty and underdevelopment.
With time, the demands of the foundation users headed our way to an education industry.
The first challenge was the creation of the Julio Crespo Active Library, located in Mapasingue. At first it was difficult for the community to get involved with the initiative and to instill on its children, reading values.
During this experience we identified that there was a need to provide academic support service, this sparked interest in parents and, as a result, the number of beneficiaries increased.
The next challenge was “The New Millennium Generation School” and this has been the foundation’s most complicated goal. The recovery of infrastructure, teacher training, working with children with learning disabilities, working with children with special abilities and creating opportunities to share with the community also were difficult tasks.
ADES Foundation plans to be a recognized organization in the country, for its high degree of expertise and scientific knowledge of the social reality of the city.
ADES Foundation – Message to the Community
We are an NGO in the service of its users. We are convinced that knowledge is a priority for development and that education is the best way to achieve this knowledge to more people. (MZ)
