Ecuadornews:
Nearly 400,000 Ecuadorians abroad will be able to participate in the local elections scheduled for March 24 and distributed in three districts, reported on Saturday the National Electoral Council (CNE).
The electoral institution has registered a total of 396,125 voters in 45 countries, divided into three circumscriptions: Europe, Asia and Oceania; United States of America and Canada, and Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa.
On the other hand, and with the objective of evaluating the progress of the electoral process in each of its components, the CNE, through the Processes Abroad Directorate, conducted training on the phases that constitute the Transmission System and Publication of Results (STPR).
The training was directed to the board of foreign and management officials in anticipation of the next electoral process.
In this line, a practical exercise of scanning, digitization, quality control, review of reports and receipt of minutes, among others, was developed.
In addition, a simulation of scrutiny was carried out in real time with two polling stations, which began their work as they will be done on the day of the elections.
The national director of training of the CNE, Mario Ruano, said that the objective of the activity was to measure the time and implement the scrutiny methodology to proceed to train the coordinators of the table and venue, providing them with tools that guarantee the correct process of counting votes.
Training for the coordinators will start from March 11 with a duration of 3 to 5 days in all the provinces of the country.
In the March 24 elections will be appointed mayors, provincial prefects, municipal councilors, members of parish boards and members of the Council of Citizen Participation and Social Control (Cpccs), body responsible for electing the nation’s control authorities.
More than 13 million voters are entitled to participate in that electoral round in which six ballots will be used in urban areas and seven in rural areas, to designate 5,675 titular authorities, a figure that with their respective alternates amounts to 11,069. (I)
