Ambassador of Guaidó in Ecuador says that the uprising in Venezuela is democratic

Posted On 01 May 2019

Ecuadornews:

The ambassador, recognized as such by the president of Ecuador, Lenin Moreno, explained in a statement that the “coup d’état” was given by President Nicolás Maduro “when he decided to usurp power”, and urged him to “avoid violence” and that the uprising promoted by Guaidó since dawn is “peaceful and democratic”.

“Give power and avoid bloodshed,” Maduro urged the diplomatic legation led by de Sola, a lawyer who has resided in Ecuador for more than a decade and since last February as the top diplomatic representative in Quito.

In the Ecuadorian capital there is also a representation of the Government of Maduro, former embassy that has been reduced to the level of charge of business and purely consular functions.

In his statement, De Sola collects the statements of the Attorney General of the Republic of Venezuela, José Ignacio Hernández, who on Tuesday said that “Operation Freedom” is covered by articles 333 and 350 of the Constitution of the Bolivarian country.

He defined the operation as “profoundly legitimate, constitutional and democratic, led by a civilian president.” He also called on the National Armed Forces (FAN) to support the Venezuelan people, “who have been oppressed by a criminal and usurping regime,” and the 1999 Constitution.

The FAN’s support would guarantee, according to the ambassador, the activation of the transition government and the convocation, “as soon as possible,” of free elections to “restore the freedom of the people of Venezuela.”

The Venezuelan diplomatic legation also thanked the support of foreign governments and international organizations for Guaidó, and urged them to continue supporting the “democratic transition process” that the Venezuelan people are experiencing.

“The international support has been fundamental for the struggle of the Venezuelan people to be vindicated, to strengthen our freedom,” de Sola concluded. Guaidó announced at dawn this Tuesday that “the military family once took the step “to join him and get” the definitive cessation of the usurpation “that -considers- Maduro makes of the Government.
