The deputy Minister of Foreign Trade, Alejandro Davalos, said that a trade agreement with the United States is not among the government’s priorities.
“We are not considering it at the moment, we have other priorities of negotiation,” Davalos said when asked about it.
United States is the main destination of exports from Ecuador, with 42.3%. In the first half of this year, the country sold products for 4,158.5 million dollars.
The official stressed that among the priorities of negotiations is Central America. He also said that agreements with Vietnam, China, Mexico and South Korea are sought. With the latter, there have been talks to begin negotiations.
