Angelo Dundee died at 90
Posted On 03 Feb 2012
The legendary boxing trainer, Angelo Dundee, died yesterday at age 90.
A family statement announced: “Angelo died surrounded by family and friends. (…) He was very happy to have celebrated the birthday (number 70) of Ali earlier this year and be part of the Hall of Fame. He still had much to do, but had a full life and extraordinary.”
Dundee trained and accompanied the legendary Muhammad Ali during most of the successful U.S. boxer’s career. Also, it is also identified by boxing insiders as an ambassador of boxing and as a benchmark of integrity in a sport that often lacks it.
