Apple loses iPad trademark in China
The sale of the Apple iPad was suspended in Hebei Province of China after a complaint to the company on the block for violating the copyright to patent a brand already registered for a small company in the country.
The shops in Chinese cities have stopped displaying and selling the famous Apple tablet, but the ones that were previously reserved are going to be delivered. Even virtual stores such as Amazon have stopped selling it. In Beijing, however, it is still being sold normally.
Last December, the Shenzen court held that the Chinese company Porview Electronics, had registered the trademark “iPad” and “IPAD”. A subsidiary of this company sold Apple the rights to the brand in 2010, however the Chinese judge held that the agreement is not valid as the deal was made with a subsidiary of the company and not with it.
