El Telegrafo newspaper revealed classified information on case Glas Viejo

A week after a complaint was presented on the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) against the General Prosecutor Office of the Ecuadorian State and newspaper El Telegrafo, the attorneys accusing Jorge Heriberto Glas Viejo demand that the media apologizes for revealing the identity of the teenager and her mother, in the article published on October 7.

“What El Telegrafo does evidences a poor management in a case that has shocked the country. We give the media 48-hours to apologizes publicly to the mother of the minor for publishing her name and put her at risk, and for claiming that the Government have helped the minor with medicines which is a lie,” said Alfonso Luz Yunez, president of the Attorney School of Guayas, entity in charge of the judicial process against Glas Viejo, now on the run, for violation charges.

The published information remained until yesterday in the website of the Prosecutor, the same occurred with the site of El Telegrafo, which was published under the title “Mas diligencias se cumplen en caso de supuesta violación seguido contra Glas Viejó,” article in which the identity of the complainant is revealed. Luz Yunes pointed out that in case the newspaper doesn’t apologize they will begin legal actions against the media and its director Orlando Perez. AV
